Odin Gets a Makeover and Pet Magasin Giveaway

Welcome Back!!

Happy New Year! I’m starting this year off with some changes to the blog. I want to start giving you guys little life updates, stories, and discussions in addition to products reviews.

I know I usually post about beauty but how many of you want your dog to be beautiful too?

I’m off to a great start this year. The biggest news is that I have a Grandson! His name is Lincoln and he’s absolutely adorable. My oldest daughter & husband are doing an amazing job as parents. It’s strange being a grandmother at my age and one day I plan to write my teen mom story for you guys.

For those that don’t know, about a year ago we said goodbye to our 12-year-old boxer (Spike) when he rapidly developed cancer. A few months later we got a new boxer pup named Brutus, tragically we lost him at 12 weeks due to a genetic illness. It’s been an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. We grieved for both of our pets for a long time.

Recently, we felt ready to be puppy parents again and now we have Odin, who is also a boxer puppy. Odin was meant to be with us. He’s goofy, smart, easily trained, and beyond energetic. We know he needs lots of exercise or he tends to find trouble.

We wanted Odin to have his own toys, collars, leash, grooming tools, bed, and everything else dogs need.

I came across a company named Pet Magasin. They specialize in making affordable high quality pet products with safety being a priority. After Brutus, we’ve been extra cautious, so safety is our priority too.

Pet Magasin was kind enough to send Odin a leash, a 3-piece brush set, and nail clippers. All products are made in bright/fun colors and have the feel of quality.

Pet Magasin

Odin has been on quite a few walks using the Pet Magasin tape-style retractable leash. It extends 13.5 feet and can be used on dogs up to 44lbs. Odin loves being able to explore at a distance and I love having the control to bring him closer if I need to. The leash comes with very convenient bag dispenser so you’re never in a jam if your pet does his doody during walks.

The 3 piece brush set comes with a double-sided brush, long tooth undercoat rake, and a de-matting comb. The brushes are pretty heavy. Odin ran off with my double-sided brush and it was retrieved without a mark on it. He does enjoy getting brushed, especially with the bristle side. Recently he got candy stuck in his coat (thanks to visiting children) and the de-matting comb came in very handy. His shedding is also minimal.

The week my Pet Magasin package arrived, our vet told us it was time to clip his nails. Definitely not my favorite thing to do but it worked out well with Pet Magasin’s dog nail clippers. They have a safety stop to prevent over cutting, which I’ve done in the past and it’s terrifying. Right now we’re clipping puppy nails but these are strong enough to clip his adult nails too.

After using these product for a month, I highly recommend Pet Magasin.

  1. I don’t know how I missed this post but Odin is ADORABLE! It’s so sad to lose a pet but welcoming a new one is probably the best way to cope.

Nail clipping is so stressful. My old dog didn’t HATE but I was always nervous because she had alternating nails of black and white (she was a German Shorthaired Pointer so she was spotted). Looks like Odin is a champ!

I’ve totally missed the giveaway and it’s not like I’d entered since I don’t have a dog – would LOVE to have one but our lives just aren’t conducive to one.

Congrats again on becoming a grandmother! ❤

    • How are you? Thank you! 😊 You can’t see it well in the picture but Odin’s nails are black and white too. I can’t clip them, my husband does that.
Loosing a pet is awful. We got to say goodbye to our old boy but the puppy was traumatic.
I won’t lie, there have been times where I questioned our decision to get another puppy. Lol
I posted pics of baby Lincoln on Instagram. He’s consuming my life right now and I love it.
