Skin Recovery With Cosmetic Warrior

Halloween took a serious toll on my hair and face. Making myself look younger and 90’s took enough effort that I had to re-charge my face and hair afterward. This is a non-Scary post unless you are struggling with any form of acne, rosacea, and/or eczema.

I absolutely love Lush Bath Bombs and shower bars but I have never tried any facial products until recently.

I tried a mask at the request of a beautiful women who had a recent bout with adult acne and newly diagnosed rosacea. After seeing a dermatologist she was prescribed several medications, including a face wash called Rosanil. The combination helped to get the break out under control. After the initial flare up she was in search of a good skin care routine to prevent this from happening again.

Lush Cosmetic Warrior

She chose a fresh face mask from Lush called Cosmetic Warrior. Oddly enough, it happened to have sulfur in it just like the medication from the dermatologist, except it’s created from natural ingredient such as garlic and eggs (organosulfur).

Let’s talk science for a minute. Sulfur is a potent ingredient used to soothe psoriasis, eczema, folliculitis, and fight acne. Sulfur 5% is an over-the-counter FDA approved ingredient in fighting acne. It clears acne by fighting off bacteria and increasing cell turnover. It’s integral in proper development of connective tissue. There is some evidence that suggests ingesting sulfur can even prevent cancer.

Back to Cosmetic Warrior, as I said it’s fresh, so you can’t order it online and it must remain refrigerated. There is a made on date and use by date so I reached out to Lush, they responded immediately, stating the mask is good for approximately 2 weeks from the time you buy it. Don’t fret about the quick expiration because this tub is small with 2.1 ounces of product. It retails for $8.95 USD. You apply a good dollop to your entire clean/dry face avoiding the eyes and mouth and leave on for about 10 minutes. Do not let the mask fully dry. Wash off with warm water. It’s suggested to use twice a week so you have just enough for 4 full applications in 2 weeks. 4 masks for $7.95? Some places charge more than that for one sheet mask. If you bring 5 empty pots back to Lush you get a free mask, so save those empties!

Description from Lush:

The frustration of having troubled skin can drive you to use harsh cleansers to clear it up, but since problem skin is often sensitive, aggressive cleansers can make it worse. Don’t attack your skin; instead, gently lead it down the path to salvation with Cosmetic Warrior. This fresh face mask is kind to problem-laden faces thanks to moisturizing egg whites and honey, which smooth and tighten the pores, and cleansing garlic and tea tree oil for a fresh, clear, happy face.

Fresh ingredients

Kaolin , Fresh Green Grapes (Vitis vinifera), Fresh Free Range Eggs , Honey , Cornstarch (Zea mays) , Glycerine , Fresh Garlic (Allium sativum) , Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) , *Limonene , Fragrance . *Occurs naturally in essential oils.

If you looked at the ingredients, you can probably tell that this mask doesn’t smell good. The first time I tried this, was during a mild breakout (post Halloween). For me, Cosmetic Warrior smells strongly of Tea Tree Oil and clay, it’s quite overpowering. I’ve also read some reviews where the garlic scent was too overwhelming for people. I didn’t smell garlic in either of the my tubs, I did smell grapes slightly in one of them. I guess with each fresh batch the scent may vary. If you are sensitive to scent, this might not be for you. I, on the other hand, will deal with scent (other than on my lips) as long as it truly works.

The texture is a typical clay type mask with some grainy chunks. I applied a good thick amount to my entire face. I had no burning or tingling and I started to feel the tightening almost immediately. I waited until it was semi-dry and using a wash cloth and warm water, I washed off. It was pretty difficult to get off, I had to work at it a bit to get it all removed. My face felt extra soft, super clean (felt like my pores were vacuumed), and my skin less inflamed. I applied toner and Moisturizer and went to bed. In the morning the 2 mild blemishes I had were gone, I mean disappeared. I’ve used products that work in 3-5 days but never this quick. I’ve also started spot treating which works really well and is much easier.

This is a special event or wedding day must-have. I give Cosmetic Warrior 5/5 stars and a huge thumbs up. It should be called acne-demolisher but Cosmetic Warrior sounds way cooler. If you can look past the scent, this could be your savior.

  3. I got a sample of this because they were out and had to get a different one. Anyway, I tried the sample yesterday and I really liked it as my very first time using a fresh face mask. This morning my acne had calmed down way more than usual.

    • Great!! I’m glad it worked for you. It’s amazing what fresh ingredients can do for the skin right? BTW my friend just called in a panic, she ran out of the face mask a week ago and missed 2 regular applications and her acne is back!! I think it’s great that it works so well for acne but it really stinks that you have to go to Lush pretty much every 2 weeks if you need to use it regularly. Thanks for reading!!

  4. I really enjoy the fresh LUSH masks! I did make the mistake the first time of buying 3… and then they expired before I could finish them. But I learned from that mistake and just buy one now and enjoy! I haven’t tried this one. Plus, they feel so good since they are cold. AHHHH!

Hmm Sulfur… it’s one of those love / hate relationships. I know it’s good for me but it’s so stinky! And tea tree… no no no.

I just got into the Lush fresh masks last year. I think it’s worth the money – I really liked the first one I tried, the Sacred Truth:

I’ve been trying to figure out the next Lush mask to try next that’s good for sensitive skin… a lot of them have peppermint or tea tree oil… I’m thinking Rosy Cheeks or Cup O’ Coffee.

    • Haha now your lumping me in with Cat, I still use sheet masks every other day!! Someone just recommended Rosy Cheeks but I’m not sure what the ingredients are. Tea Tree Oil is ok for me only during a break out. My skin loves sulfur. Hmmm Sacred truth sounds interesting and I can’t stand the smell of coffee so that’s a NO.

  6. I love the vacuumed affect thing – what a good visual HL ❀
