EVERPRO Gray Away Review #GrayAwayOnTheGo

Today I bring you an innovative way to temporarily hide those grays in-between salon visits or DIY hair coloring. Personally, I color my hair at home using professional grade products. I went to cosmetology school a long time ago, and although I never got licensed, I kept some of those skills. Am I diligent? No, I am way too busy and more often than not, I am way overdue for a touch-up. My family was cursed with turning white/gray in our early 20’s so unless we chose to go natural, we started coloring our hair pretty early on.

As you know, it can take a lot of time to head to the salon for touch ups or even longer at home. I have a whole routine that takes me about 2 hours total. I was grateful for the opportunity to save some time and money with Everpro Gray Away.

My hair is naturally dark brown and I color it dark brown just to hide the grays. Needless to say I chose Everpro’s Gray Away Root Touch Up Magnetic Powder in the shade black/dark brown. Gray Away is housed in a cute little compact style applicator.

Let me give some you background on my hair and life style. I have very fine hair with grays all along my hairline and gray wings above my ears. I call them Pauly Walnut Wings (if you watched the Sopranos…you know what I mean). Also, the hair isn’t actually gray it’s just white and very noticeable on dark brown hair. Between family duties and working notoriously long days, it’s nearly impossible for me to find the 2 hours I need to color my hair. Gray Away is the perfect opportunity for me to stretch those sessions out, save money, and not expose my hair to chemicals so frequently.

The packaging is really cute with a little pink ribbon on top for pulling the lid up to reveal a mirror and the product itself. The bottom of the compact is where the sponge applicator is housed. You receive .13 0z of product. The reason I called this innovative is the convenient on-the-go packaging and the applicator sponge for precision, unlike the sprays. Personally, I have a hard time with the spray applicators.

The directions say that it’s best to apply to clean dry/styled hair. Using the sponge applicator sweep a small amount of powder starting at the scalp and work outward. Re-apply as needed.

Everpro Gray Away Swatch

Review: I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when Grayaway arrived because the product appeared a little lighter than I expected and had a little sparkle to it. You can see the glitter-like specks in my pictures but you cannot see it when it’s applied so no worries.  When I swatched this on the sponge it was really pigmented and darker than I expected. I followed all directions and started with clean/dry hair. I started with a small amount and then built it up to cover the grays. It took about 3 swipes over one area and the applicator made it really easy to pin point the areas I needed to cover. It’s much darker than it looks and it was a perfect match for my dark brown hair. A little goes a long way so this compact will last for quit a while. I did not have to re-apply this at all, it lasted all day. Gray Away was so easy to use that it’s definitely a keeper for me. Also, I love that it gave my hair some height, like a dry shampoo would. I know that isn’t mentioned in the description and maybe it’s the consistency of the product being added to my thin hair?  I wash my hair every other day so I left Gray Away in for 2 days without a problem. It did fade by the second day but not enough for me to re-apply. I washed my hair and Gray Away washed right out with no residue left over. The only thing I need to mention is that if you are wearing sunglasses, a headband, or you touch your hair frequently; there is some transfer. I think I noticed because all of my grays are along the front of my hair-line. If your grays are on top or in the back then you won’t need to worry about transfer. I will continue to use Gray Away to save time, money and exposure to chemicals.

It was very hard to capture my white hair so I had to keep adjusting the lighting and camera settings. I wanted you to get a good look at how my white hair grows out all along my hair line.
