Sephora Play! August 2016

Today is my Birthday! I had a great time at the beach, it was beautiful and relaxing. Thank you to my husband for starting my birthday week right! I wish I could live on the beach but since that isn’t in my cards right now, I will get back to my regularly scheduled blog posts. Goodbye beach 😦 now let’s get on with Sephora Play!

Looks like I spoke a little too soon in July’s post when I said “Sephora hasn’t pushed their own collection on us at all”. This month there just happened to be a Sephora product.

Sephora Play is a monthly beauty subscription service. Unfortunately, as of this post, it is only available in 48 contiguous United States. The website says they are working to change this and will update when it becomes more widely available. You can see if there is an open spot by clicking HERE. It costs $10 USD/month plus tax. Each month you will receive:

5 deluxe samples plus a bonus fragrance sample from in-store brands.
Play! Book with tips, tricks, and advice about your samples.
Play! Pass (to redeem in-store) for a free one-on-one tutorial plus 50 extra Beauty Insider Points with any product purchase. (Doesn’t have to be an item from your Play! Box).
Collectible makeup bag that changes with each month’s theme.
Access to video and how-to content on Sephora.com/play.
An email invite to Play! Date, a subscriber meet-up at select stores.

Sephora Play! August 2016 Theme: The Eye Openers

  • Make Up For Ever- Artist Shadow in the shade I-544 (Pink Granite) in sample size. Full-size $21 USD

MUFE Eyeshadow Makeup Forever Eyeshadow MUFE Eyeshadow Β

What it is: A highly saturated , iridescent pink granite eyeshadow made with a unique gel-powder formula. You can dip an angled brush in contact lens/saline solution to help set the shadow across the lash line

Review: This is a highly pigmented and super easy to blend (maybe the gel formula). It’s a multi-tasker, I’ve used this packed on the lid, blended out, on the crease, and across the lash line. I’m gonna DASH for this.

  • Urban Decay- Perversion Mascara in sample size. Full-size $22 USD.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara UD Perversion Mascara Urban Decay Perversion Mascara Brush

What it is: Lengthening and volumizing mascara in a triple black, creamy, and buildable formula.

Review: I’m sorry, I love UD but Perversion just isn’t for me. It’s really dark and it gives me volume but no length. I blame it on the brush because the formula itself is really good. Β I’m going to TRASH this one.

  • Clean Reserve-Warm Cotton in sample size. full-size $90 USD.

Clean Reserve Warn Cotton Clean Reserve Perfume in Warm Cotton Clean Reserve Perfume

What it is: Bright and pure blend of understated floral and musk, similar to the soft scent of fresh linen. Cruelty free ingredients and recyclable packaging. You can spritz tissue paper and line your drawers

Review: This has such a clean refreshing scent that I could pull of everyday at work. I work in a place where children are sensitive to smells and I’ve had no complaints so far, only compliments because it smells like clean laundry. I love that it reminds me of how my nieces smell. I already DASHED for this one or I should say my husband dashed for this (birthday present).

  • LancΓ΄me- Energie De Vie Smoothing & Glowing Liquid Care Moisturizer in a sample size. Full-size $55 USD.

Lancome Watermarked Photo 57 (2016-08-29-0017) Lancome Energie

What it is: A concentrated energizing liquid lotion that relieves dullness, diminishes signs of fatigue.

Review: this felt more like a serum than a moisturizer. I really didn’t notice any change in brightness. I really feel like I haven’t used this little sample long enough to see the full benefits. I’m gonna STASH it.

  • Algenist- Eye Renewal Balm in a sample size. full-size $68 USD.

What it is: A soothing and moisturizing eye cream to reduce dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles.

Review: I love a good eye cream and this is just that. It’s confusing because it says balm but it’s not balmy at all. It’s creamy and smooth and makes the eye area feel amazing. My under-eye puffiness disappears and dark circles have diminishes. I haven’t used it long enough to work on the fine lines but I’m hopeful. I’m going to DASH for this when my pretty big sample is gone.

  • Sephora Collection- Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof in Love Affair-Plum in sample size. Full-size $10 USD.

What it is: A creamy eye pencil with long-lasting power in a shimmery plum shade.

Review: This shade is very pretty and the formula is creamy. It super easy to apply. I’m not sure about 12hrs but it lasted 8hrs for me. This isn’t a shade I would normally wear and it is definitely growing on me. It works really well with MUFE’s Pink Granite eyeshadow. I’m going to STASH it for now.

This month was a win win! I got to try new products that I wouldn’t normally have purchased. There was only one item that I won’t use, but everything else is great. There was a nice variety of skin care, makeup, and a fragrance. I’m so happy with Sephora Play! And I hope they don’t continue to consistently send Sephora Collection products. Once in a while is fine. I have to add that MUFE’s eyeshadow and Sephora’s eyeliner compliment each other very well! Take a look at the swatches together….so pretty!

    1. You noticed! You are the first, thank you! I was going for something more mature…since I’m older now πŸ˜‰. I love the MUFE Pink Granite shadow, so I went on their site to order a palette and of course I just can’t choose.

      1. I know and I am guilty sometimes, all of the bloggers I follow closely I get emailed so it directs me to their page. I really changed the theme because I was so sick of the pink background. πŸ˜‚ BTW, did you make your own logo? I love it and I need one!! Now I’m going to check out your post on MUFE. Thanks
