Hope you all had a relaxing weekend. I am not a spontaneous shopper and never have been. I always do research on every single purchase I make with the exception of products that are drastically discounted. I recently had a rough few days and thought….why not! Plenty of people use retail as therapy as a way to cheer up so I decide to give it a try. I almost always have Buyer’s remorse and this time was no different.
I headed to the local target with a plan to purchase items without looking at reviews. Here is what my $35 USD got me:
I kind of cheated because I knew I liked Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask but I justified that because this was a combination pack with another product I had never heard of. Also I’m sure I received a sample of Acure in a subscription box, but wasn’t sure if I had tried it, and for $9.99 I figured what the hell! Here is the break down:
2-Dr. Bonner’s Pure Castille Soap samples In Citrus and Lavender for $1.99 each
1-Acure Brightening Facial Scrub full-size for $9.99
4-Laneige Good Night Kits on sale buy 3 get one free for a total of $15
1-e.l.f Blending Sponge for $6
I have never owned a Dr. Bonner’s product and have been on the hunt for a new body wash. I will say that I absolutely love the citrus scent and I don’t get that slimy residue that happens with some body washes. The only concern I have is that it doesn’t seem to have any natural moisturizer in it and I fear a dry skin disaster looming. I could be wrong but I will continue to use it keep you updated. Also, it could also be a little more sudsy for my taste. I would rate it a 6/10
Acure Brightening Facial Scrub is simply a must have. I remember receiving a sample but maybe I never used it because this stuff does wonders for my skin. The color is a little strange, it’s very dark green and has a gritty mud type consistency. I applied this to my clean but damp face. It smells like fresh herbs (mostly sage) so if you close your eyes you would think of homemade stuffing…strange but relaxing! I used a marble size amount and blended in a circular motion and I noticed that the more water I added to my fingers the more soapy it became. My only complaint is that it’s a little hard to get all the herbs off so I suggest using this in the shower. My face was visible brighter and amazingly soft afterward. I also feel good about using effective & natural ingredients. I truly love this scrub and would rate it a 9/10 (always room for improvement).
Laneige Good Night kit was a steel for the price. I got 4 kits for $15 and the kit includes a 0.5oz Water Sleeping Mask and a 0.6oz Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask. The Water Sleeping Mask is on of my all time favorites. It has a clean scent, spreads smoothly, sinks in with no residue, and stays on while sleeping. This stuff can repair any dry skin as well as maintain healthy skin. I use this at least 3 times a week. If you haven’t tried this yet then please do…you won’t regret it. I rate this a 9/10. The Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask was brand new to me. It’s smells delicious and is heavier than the water mask. It’s thick and creamy and smells like strawberry yogurt. So far it feels nice on the skin with no burning or tingling. This one gets rinsed off after 5-10 minutes. I really didn’t notice anything drastic afterward so I will continue to use it and at this time I would have to rate this a 6/10.
e.l.f Blending sponge is more dense than the Beautyblender and I honestly like it better. I like a very dense blending sponge so my rating is partly based on that. I like the shape and it doesn’t seem to hold onto a lot of product which is good. It does a pretty good job of blending but didn’t inflate as much as I expected after adding water so I would rate this a 7/10.
Even though I liked this haul very much, I still have Buyer’s remorse because I could have spent the money on something more necessary. I really need a new face sponge, bath sponge, and toothpaste but oh well #YOLO right?
Am I the only one that feels guilty after a purchase? Please share your thoughts with me. Give me some lip 😉
