Why do I blog?

Blogging was always something in the back of my mind, I just never had the time to get started. My life started to slow down a bit and I finally got going.  I chose to be a beauty blogger because it’s a subject I’m pretty passionate about. I am a beauty school drop out and not because I didn’t love it. I was just young and stupid. Now I want to get back to my original goals. I never ever make a new purchase without reading reviews and I found honest reviews from beauty bloggers. I spent so much time reading other beauty blogs that I wanted to have my own outlet for sharing my experiences and writing my own reviews. I love to write, even if it’s a 10 page paper for school (seriously). To be completely honest, I like being an influencer. When I find something amazing or awful, I want everyone to know.

Blogging tips:

Do NOT get discouraged when you’re not an over night success. Starting a blog is a slow process. Yes, you can promote on social media and post as often as you can but ultimately it’s your persistence, honesty, and personality that will win your audience over.

Be yourself!! Don’t change who you are to fit the blog. Make the blog fit you. This is still a work in progress for me. I am so used to being formal, in my writing, that I forget it’s my blog and I can say whatever I want….Dang! People want to know the person behind the blog and that you are real and maybe even funny. I tend to follow bloggers that write as if they are talking to me.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to other bloggers. When I finally did, I was amazed at how helpful and supportive other beauty bloggers are. Ask for help if you need it.

Good Blogging takes an unbelievable amount of time so get a planner or use your phone to jot down ideas as they come. In the beginning it would take me a week to get a worthy post out. Now that I’m more organized, I can get things done quicker. I’m not saying you need to have a post schedule because putting deadlines on things doesn’t work for me but I could be out shopping or at work and think of something awesome and then boom I have writers block. I guarantee you will never run out of things to blog about if you keep notes.

Many people skim read…..guilty!!! Make your pictures count because they catch the eye. You don’t need an expensive camera you can use your phone, just make sure it’s clear with a clean background. My most useful advice with pictures is to use natural lighting whenever possible. We want to see what you are writing about so swatch away and take pictures!! After I started putting more focus into taking better pictures, my social media and blog had a major traffic boost.

My last bit of advice is never give up! There will be times when you get discouraged or you’ll stop and wonder why you are blogging or you may think nobody cares. This is for YOU! Your are blogging because you love it End. Of. Story.

I decided to choose some nominees that would have some really good tips for you all. These are bloggers that I have learned various tricks of the trade from and they all have very different blogging styles.
